Susan Simnett

Producer

With an earlier career in advertising that developed good habits in telling stories clearly, succinctly and with heightened engagement, Susan combined her business expertise with her creative interests and in 2015 set up Over The Fence Films. She produces across long and short form content with an interest in stories that provoke; stories that embrace who we are and where we might go; stories that shift our axis of understanding.

Working with artist director, Sarah Beddington, the BIFA nominated ‘Fadia’s Tree’ is her first feature documentary and has enjoyed an award-winning festival run, been highly reviewed, released in cinemas and now available online . She co-produced the double Iris Prize winning short film Baba, has worked as an Associate Producer on Magnolia Mae’s Japanese/UK co-production, Cottontail starring Ciarán Hinds and Lily Franky and as Production Manager on additional filming for StudioCanal’s The Railway Children Return.

She has an executive role on the BFI/BBC/Ffilm Cymru funded Chuck Chuck Baby and is in production on the BFI supported short film, The Call.

Her current slate is varied, with a number of scripted projects in development.
